Grilled Cheese

One of the ultimate comfort foods. Toasted, buttery bread and lots of melty cheese? Yum. And wicked easy. Perfect to make when you don’t feel like “really” cooking.


  • 2 pieces of bread
  • a slice or two of cheese
  • butter

Cook it!

Melt a pat of butter in a pan over medium heat.

You have two options, here.

  1. You can assemble the sandwich and put the whole thing in the pan, toast one side, melt a little more butter, and then flip it to toast the other side.
  2. You can put both pieces of bread in the pan and lay cheese on top for simultaneous toasting, smushing both pieces together post-toast to make a sandwich.

Try some variations on the classic. Some of my favorite ways to kick up a grilled cheese is to add bacon, or ham, or a tomato slice, or some chopped scallion.
